New Honda Amaze exterior and interior design, features, launch details
Hot on the heels of the all-new Maruti Dzire, Honda India has just dropped design sketches of the next-generation Amaze, previewing both the exterior and interior of the new sub-compact sedan. The new Amaze gets the latest Honda family look, borrowing design elements from both the City sedan and the Elevate SUV.
- New Amaze will continue with 1.2-litre petrol engine
- Price announcement on December 4
- To rival new Dzire, Aura and Tigor
New Honda Amaze exterior design
The front end of the new Amaze looks like a shrunken, hunkered-down version of the Elevate SUV. The new headlamps with the brow-like LED daytime running lamps, headlined by a sleek chrome trim, look identical to that of the Elevate. The Amaze also gets a hexagonal grille, although it is shallower and sharper than the one on the Elevate. The fog lamp surrounds and the central air dam on the well-sculpted bumper, however, look a lot closer to that of the City.
In profile, akin to the City, the Amaze sports a sharp character line that starts from the edge of the headlamps, going all the way across the length of the sedan, and it also gets multi-spoke alloy wheels. The rear, again, looks much like a junior City, with a similar shape for the tail-lamps flanking the number plate housing. The rear bumper gets a very clean look, with reflectors positioned at either edge. In adopting this family look, the new Amaze looks a lot more mature than the outgoing sedan.
New Honda Amaze interior and features
On the inside, the dashboard design is clearly inspired by the Elevate. The large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system (likely a 10.25-inch unit), the HVAC controls, the semi-digital instrument cluster and the multi-function steering wheel are all borrowed from the Elevate. The centre console layout, too, with a wireless charging shelf, USB ports, and two cup holders, is identical to that of the Elevate. What’s unique here is a textured finish for the dashboard panel that seamlessly merges with the AC vents. The dashboard gets a two-tone finish – a black and beige theme with some silver highlights. There’s also talks of the new Amaze getting an ADAS suite which will be first-in-segment feature. It, however, does not appear to have gotten a sunroof.
New Honda Amaze powertrain options
On the powertrain front, the new Amaze will continue with the 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox. There are talks of CNG-powered variants as well, which could join the line-up later.
The new Honda Amaze will be aimed squarely at the all-new Dzire, and it will also see competition from the likes of the Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor. Prices for the new Amaze are slated to be announced on December 4.
