On one end, the Renault Duster is gearing up for its comeback early in 2026, and it aims to reestablish itself as an SUV, with an upright, chunky, and tough appearance. On the other hand, the Hyundai Creta has taken the opposite route-smooth surfaces, premium details, and the sort of styling that fits better under an office building than on a dirt trail. Park them next to each other and the difference becomes pretty clear: one wants to explore, the other wants to impress.

Exterior Design: Rugged vs Refined

Front Design

The Duster doesn’t bother with subtlety. Its bonnet sits tall and flat, leading into an upright front end. The grille is wide and squared off with thick black surrounds, and the Y-shaped LED DRLs give the SUV a distinct identity. The bumper looks tough, with a prominent skid plate and thick plastic cladding, the kind that won’t mind gravel, rocks, or branches brushing against it.

The Creta is a whole different story altogether. The face is clean, structured, and modern. A full-width LED DRL strip, situated above the grille, resembles an eyebrow, lending the vehicle a futuristic look. Where the Duster looks ready to hit a trail at a moment’s notice, the Creta looks ready for fine dining.

The Duster’s side profile adheres to the classic SUV script: large, squared wheel arches, generous cladding, a tall glass area, and roof rails that appear capable of actually carrying something. There are no dramatic creases or styling flourishes; everything feels functional. This is the kind of SUV that looks perfectly normal with bicycles, a kayak, or a camping trunk on the roof.

The Creta, meanwhile, feels more designed. The body surfacing is smoother and more controlled, the chrome accents are more deliberate, and the windowline tapers gently toward the rear to give the SUV a sleeker stance. Then there are those diamond-cut alloys that add a layer of premium appeal. This is the SUV that looks at home outside a workplace or an upscale café.

At the back, the Duster continues the rugged theme. The rear glass area is nearly vertical to maximise visibility and cargo practicality. The tail lamps, again featuring C-shaped threads that echo the Y-pattern up front, reinforce the SUV’s identity. The bumper is chunky, and the skid plate isn’t hiding-it looks like it belongs there.

The Creta keeps things cleaner and more sculpted. A full-width LED bar connects the tail lamps, mirroring the front DRL design. There’s less cladding and more body-coloured paneling, which makes it look sleeker and more refined. Even the way the boot curves and fits into the bumper feels more car-like than SUV-like.

Interior Design: Duster’s Practical Upgrade vs Creta’s Comfort-First Cabin

The new Duster’s cabin is a clear improvement over the older model. The layout is cleaner; the 10.1-inch infotainment screen sits high on the dash and pairs with a 7-inch digital cluster. The AC vents follow the same Y-theme as the exterior, and the materials appear to have been chosen for their durability. A tall seating position and large glass area help create an airy cabin, something SUV drivers love.

The Creta plays a very different game. The cabin feels premium the moment you step inside. You get soft-touch areas, ambient lighting, ventilated seats, a large touchscreen, and a digital cluster that seamlessly integrates into the dashboard.
